A promotion ceremony was held in Iraq, recently, for Major James W. Thompson (left) who is serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 194th Engineer Brigade, Tennessee Army National Guard of Jackson. Major Thompson is assigned to the Construction Management Section of the 194th as a special project officer for this deployment. He has been deployed since January. This is his third overseas tour in eighteen years of service in the Tennessee Army National Guard.
MAJ Thompson and his wife, Vicky, are residents of Louisville, Kentucky. He is originally from Fulton, Kentucky and graduated from Fulton City High School in 1979 and Murray State University in 1988. He is the son of John M. Thompson of Fulton and Charlotte Glaser of Gainesville, Georgia. MAJ Thompson is employed by the State of Kentucky as an administrator in the Classification Branch of the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice.
